Treehaus organic market and restaurant to open at MiMA

Related Companies today announced that Treehaus, a farm-to-table market and restaurant that offers American cuisine with a modern French twist, has signed a long-term lease at MiMA, a 63-story mixed-use glass tower on West 42nd Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. MiMA is owned by Related Companies and TIAA-CREF. Related Companies and TIAA-CREF were represented by Cushman & Wakefield, led by Gene Spiegelman, Michael O’Neill, Alisa Amsterdam and Jason Greenstone. Tony Park of PD Properties LLC represented Treehaus in the transaction.

“Treehaus’ organic market, dining experience and special catering and delivery service for our residents is an exciting offering for the building and the entire Midtown West community, where we see a trend of increasingly gourmet offerings,” said Greg Gushee, senior vice president of Related Companies.

"Our energetic management team, coupled with the experience and guidance of Treehaus’ Founder and President, Ms. Rachel Cho, has given us the ability to innovate and execute a memorable experience for our guests. By providing artisanal goods from local suppliers to MiMA, we are able to hone in on the food extravaganza currently taking place within this lively neighborhood,” said Michael Park, Vice President of Treehaus. “Ultimately, we are looking forward to residents seeing Treehaus as an extension of the many amenities currently offered at MiMA."

The second location for the high-end organic market and eatery, Treehaus at MiMA will operate 24-hours a day and offer menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, in addition to outdoor seating and catering and delivery services. Additional offerings will include regular beer and wine tastings from local microbreweries and wineries, accompanied by cheeses and small homemade organic food items inspired by the popular Smorgasburg Flea Food Market hosted in Williamsburg and DUMBO.

Treehaus will feature catering and delivery service, in addition to having line cooks readily available to prepare food in select amenity spaces for residents of MiMA.

“We are thrilled with the Treehaus team’s vision to create a high-end eatery and organic market, which meets the needs of the MiMA residents and is an added amenity to the rapidly growing west side marketplace,” said O’Neill, a Cushman & Wakefield Senior Director. “Treehaus will offer customers an eco-friendly and health conscious experience while maintaining the high-end feel and design consistent with the MiMA development.”

Treehaus’ expansive 14,292-square foot ground floor space at 470 West 42nd Street is situated between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. It will be contextually designed and constructed by UnSPACE Architects to compliment the modern architecture and design specific to MiMA. Treehaus’ first location, at 830 Third Avenue, received the A.R.E. International Design Award in 2013, for its innovative architectural design which was also conceived by UnSPACE.
