The Eastern Rail Yards is the first phase of the Hudson Yards development completed in 2019. The Eastern Rail Yards contains soaring commercial towers 10 Hudson Yards, 30 Hudson Yards, 50 Hudson Yards and 55 Hudson Yards; dozens of shops and restaurants at The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards; luxury and affordable residences at Fifteen Hudson Yards and One Hudson Yards; the first Equinox Hotel®, retail space, office space and luxury residences at 35 Hudson Yards; a unique cultural monument featuring New York's Staircase by Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick Studio; The Shed, New York’s first arts center to commission new work across the performing arts, visual arts, and popular culture; and over six acres of open space. The Eastern Rail Yards is located at W 30th Street to W 34th Street between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue.

To complete the 28-acre Hudson Yards development, two “platforms” must be constructed to bridge over 30 active Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train tracks, three subsurface rail tunnels utilized by Amtrak and New Jersey Transit and a fourth passageway, the Gateway tunnel, currently under construction. The finished buildings will extend through the platform and rise above. The platforms will cover approximately three quarters of the Eastern and Western Rail Yards.

Hudson Yards is the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States and the largest development in New York City since Rockefeller Center.
