The District Detroit moves forward with city council approval

On March 28th, The District Detroit was granted approval by The Detroit City Council for a comprehensive community benefits package and a brownfield redevelopment plan, as well as other key project components. A joint venture between Related Companies and Olympia Development, the mixed-use destination will feature affordable and market rate housing, office space, retail, a hotel, a research an innovation center and public green space, adding thousands of jobs and leaving a positive economic impact on the city and region.

Edge and Visit London host Great British Tea Party

On March 28th, Edge partnered with Visit London to organize its first Great British Tea Party in honor of the forthcoming Coronation of King Charles III. Visitors were treated to an authentic high tea experience provided by Peak, including teas and specialty foods by classic London retailer Fortnum & Mason. They also participated in British trivia presented by Donna Werner for the chance to win special prizes.

Pickleball at Wollman introducing new pickleball courts in New York City

On April 7th, Central Park's Wollman Rink is debuting 14 new pickleball courts that can be reserved by the hour. Run by CityPickle, the courts will stay open until October, offering players of all ages a place to have fun and hone their skills. Pickleball at Wollman will also give back to the community by providing complimentary court access to select local nonprofits, such as Boys’ Club of New York.

London's Brent Cross Town shortlisted for two Pineapple Awards

Related Argent is proud to announce that mixed-use destination Brent Cross Town has been shortlisted for two 2023 Pineapple Awards. The sprawling 180-acre destination is shortlisted in both the Place in Progress category alongside Barnet Council, Allies and Morrison and Makower Architects, as well as in the Public Space category alongside HTA Design LLP.

Hudson Yards

The Shops at Columbus Circle

The Shops at Columbus Circle has transformed the area into a thriving urban neighborhood. The soaring 2.8-million-square-foot vertical mixed-use property is home to shops, restaurants, luxury residences and the headquarters of Deutsche Bank.

The 78

The Square and Rohi's Readery commemorate Black History Month

In February, The Square hosted its second annual Black History Month kickoff event, presented by Rohi's Readery and the Office of African and African American Studies. The celebration, called See What I Can Be!, brought together the West Palm community for a day of learning, fitness, arts and crafts, live performances and family fun. Visitors also explored a local market, which highlighted Black-owned businesses and authors.

On December 14th, Related Southeast announced that artist Fred Eversley will create a new public art installation at One Flagler. In partnership with the City of West Palm Beach, Related commissioned Eversley to produce Portals, a large-scale collection of eight parabolic shapes cast in transparent, violet-hued polyurethane resin. The project represents Everley's largest public art installation to date, and is scheduled to be completed by Spring 2024.

The Square hosts Downtown West Palm Beach Art Festival

A West Palm tradition returning for its 12th year, the Downtown West Palm Beach Art Festival took over The Square in November. The community was introduced to an eclectic mix of local, national and international artists working in a variety of mediums, who were happy to share their inspirations and latest works with visitors.

Throughout September and October, embroidery-based artist Lulu Varona will create new artwork and participate in public events at The Square as part of the New Wave Artist-in-Residence program. Seen at spaces such as BronxArtSpace and Flux Factory, Varona's needlepoint work addresses contemporary issues by incorporating landscapes and their hidden narratives.

For the months of July and August, multimedia artist Roberto Visani will join The Square's New Wave Artist-In-Residence program. Visani, whose artistic practice explores the Black body, will create new artworks during the residency and invite the public to participate in engaging art-centric events.

The Square hosts a panel discussion in honor of International Women's Day

In celebration of International Women's Day on March 8th, The Square facilitated a panel discussion with the Junior League of the Palm Beaches. Past presidents of the nonprofit led an inspiring conversation about how local women can make a big difference in the West Palm community through leadership and volunteering.
