Breaking a world record to benefit veterans

We are proud to congratulate Luke Forelle, an associate in the Affordable group, for breaking a world record on July 14th. Since July 5th, he has run 460 miles across Iceland in 9 days, 7 hours and 36 minutes, beating the record by 1 day, 6 hours and 5 minutes, and has raised over $30k funds for Homes for our Troops (HFOT). From now through July 30th, Related will provide a double match on all employee donations made to HFOT in support of Luke’s efforts.

Related and CareMax partner to develop senior health centers in underserved communities

Changing the community with affordable housing

In April 2021, Related closed on the preservation of Loring Towers, a 230-unit affordable housing property in downtown Minneapolis. The renovations will not only have a positive impact on residents, but on the neighborhood and surrounding community.

A groundbreaking for Rose Hill Courts in LA

Earlier this month, a groundbreaking ceremony held to start construction on the redevelopment expansion of the Rose Hill Courts, one of the oldest public housing complexes in the City of LA, a public housing project that housed World War II defense workers. The City and Related will begin replacing the 100 existing units with 185 new residences, including 183 affordable units, and two market rate managers' units.

We started exclusively as an affordable housing developer in 1972, and today, we are one of the largest developers and preservationists of affordable and workforce housing in the country. Currently, we own and manage 55,000 affordable and workforce housing apartment homes and we are proud to have never converted a single unit of affordable housing to market rate.

Portland’s Cedar Commons celebrates grand opening

Co-developed by Related Northwest and non-profit Central City Concern, Cedar Commons has opened in East Portland, offering permanently-supportive housing to some of the most vulnerable local residents. Central City Concern will also provide residents with on-site services such as mental health services and employment support and training.

On Wednesday, June 16th, the city officially broke ground on the environmental cleanup efforts needed for the Willets Point redevelopment in Queens. The project is being undertaken by a pair of developers called Queens Development Group, which includes Related Companies and Sterling Equities.

With a mission to help millions of young lower- to middle-income Londoners who are essential to the city’s economy, Pocket Living serves locals who cannot afford to buy a market rate home and don’t qualify for traditional affordable housing. Pocket Homes are discounted 20% below market value, and eligible purchasers are defined by their income levels, as well as where they live and work.
