Related Affordable Foundation and KABOOM! came together once again, this time to build a community playspace at River Trails Apartments in San Antonio, Texas. We are very thankful to Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran, San Antonio Football Club, San Antonio Spurs, the local residents and all the volunteers who joined in this effort, providing this community's children an active, safe place to play and grow.

The Related Affordable Foundation, Related Midwest and nonprofit After School Matters brought together young residents of Chicago affordable developments to create a mural honoring their city and its workers, dubbed “Building Chicago Together.” Local artist Erick “ROHO” Garcia designed the artwork and guided teens who spent the summer developing their creative and teamwork skills.

Related Affordable is nearing completion of the renovation of Park Club Apartments. The Related Affordable Foundation has partnered with the Zoological Society of Milwaukee to allow the youngest residents of the property to enjoy educational activities at the Milwaukee Zoo, organizing special classes and visits year-round.

This fall, Related Affordable Foundation and nonprofit KABOOM! celebrated the creation of a kid-designed playspace at Southern Hills, which provides an active, social and safe place for kids to have fun and express themselves.

Built in 1929, Biltmore Towers began as a prominent hotel and was converted into affordable senior residences in 1981. After undergoing extensive rehabilitation by Related Affordable and St. Mary Development Corporation, Biltmore Towers now offers senior residents upgraded residences, facilities, amenity spaces and more. Related is proud to help improve our residents' quality of life and to keep their home affordable for years to come.

Related Affordable and Related Affordable Foundation team members joined partners, city officials and locals from Anderson, South Carolina to honor the reopening and renovation of affordable residence Friendship Court Apartments, as well as adjacent St. Francis Park. Related is thrilled to preserve affordable housing for Anderson's residents and to contribute an engaging place to play, exercise and connect for the community.

Colonial Village in Cincinnati was acquired by Related Affordable in 2021 with a plan to significantly improve residents’ quality of life. The renovations currently underway have focused on revamping the residences’ interiors, building systems and critical infrastructure. Listen to residents share their personal experiences of how their homes' remodeling has enhanced their wellbeing and connection to the community.

On May 20th, Bronx Terminal Market brought families together for its annual Spring KidsFest, a celebration of discovery and community. Children made crafts with Bronx Children's Museum, built birdhouses with Home Depot, learned more about membership with New York Public Library, received information from charter school Success Academy and listened to storytelling sessions. Families also enjoyed a live DJ, spring-themed photo booths, face painting and giveaways.

On May 17th, employees at Hudson Yards joined High Line staff to prepare the park's lush plantings for the warmer weather. Volunteers spent the morning carrying out various tasks necessary for upkeep, such as removing invasive plants like bittersweet vines, which will get the park ready for summer visitors.

In early May, team members from Related Midwest and Related Beal supported Cycle for Survival by joining each of their city's races. All donations raised from the annual cycling event, which was founded by Memorial Sloan Kettering and Equinox, will benefit rare cancer research for the hospital. Related's participants were proud to contribute to the good cause and to help raise awareness for people living with rare cancers and their families.

Every other Thursday throughout the school year, Related partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City (BBBS) to mentor students from Leadership & Public Service High School. On April 3rd's session, the day was filled with one-on-one enriching activities that connected student "littles" with their "bigs," including discussions where students received guidance about their post-secondary plans.

In February, The Square hosted its second annual Black History Month kickoff event, presented by Rohi's Readery and the Office of African and African American Studies. The celebration, called See What I Can Be!, brought together the West Palm community for a day of learning, fitness, arts and crafts, live performances and family fun. Visitors also explored a local market, which highlighted Black-owned businesses and authors.
