Related and Esusu expand free program across affordable portfolio to improve residents' credit scores

Related partnered with Esusu in 2020 to help residents in many affordable buildings improve their credit scores and more easily manage their finances, with a mission to reduce housing inequality nationwide. Now, the free program will expand to more than 50,000 units across the country, using big data to automate the process of sending residents' on-time rent payment information to credit bureaus.

Related Southeast team members join race to benefit local students in need

On November 20th in West Palm Beach, Related Cares volunteers participated in the 6th Annual Fall Stampede 5K Run/Walk Presented by Chick-fil-A, which was hosted by non-profit Urban Youth Impact (UYI). The race and the accompanying auction helped UYI raise funds and awareness for educational programs that help underprivileged youths within the community, supporting initiatives such as the organization's acclaimed after school program.

Together with LR Contracting Company and Bowa Construction, Related Midwest broke ground on 900 Randolph in Chicago. The 43-story building will introduce 300 luxury apartments—with 20 percent designated as affordable—and will break barriers as Chicago's first high-rise project with an African-American Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) co-leading construction.

Riverwalk Park offers permanently affordable housing with a strong sense of community for NYC’s workforce

Located in NYC's Roosevelt Island neighborhood, Riverwalk Park is a 340-unit permanently affordable development completed in 2020. The Enterprise Green Communities Certified building caters to low-, middle- and moderate-income New Yorkers, including nurses, veterans, teachers and firefighters.

Converted into affordable housing for senior citizens in the early 1980’s, the building was acquired by Related Affordable in partnership with St. Mary Development Corporation in 2020. A renovation has since been underway.

This fall, members of non-profit Blacks in Green planted 36 trees in Chicago, which had been donated by Related Midwest to help beautify the future Emmett Till House Museum (opening in 2024). Members of BiG will maintain the trees and lead a horticultural training program as part of the Sustainable Square Mile program, which addresses climate change in the local community.
