Related hosts roundtable discussion honoring the women who are building The Grand LA

On December 1st, Related held the commemorative roundtable discussion "Power of Apprenticeships — Women Building The Grand LA." Related team members and LA County Board of Supervisors Chair Hilda L. Solis, Supervisor to the First District welcomed U.S. Secretary of Labor Martin J. Walsh, Deputy Secretary of Labor Julie A. Su and The Grand LA's labor partners, highlighting more than 60 amazing women working in construction on the project, as well as the importance of apprenticeships and workplace diversity.

Related California and The County of San Bernardino complete phase three of affordable and mixed-use development Bloomington Grove

On November 30th, Related California and The County of San Bernardino commemorated the completion of phase three of Bloomington Grove, an affordable community that also features a public library. The successful public-private partnership has resulted in 89 new affordable residences—including 20 that will be reserved for residents with special needs—as well as a future 8,500-square-foot public park and community center.

Brent Cross Town opens Visitor Pavilion and welcomes local retailers

London's mixed-use center Brent Cross Town has launched The Visitor Pavilion, a sustainably designed 8,000-square-foot temporary space that will serve the community. Inside the pavilion is café Spruce & Larch, which will host local events and cultural exhibitions, including a permanent exhibition about Brent Cross Town that features large-scale models of the neighborhood. It also incorporates an open-air terrace and garden with views of the entire development, leading directly into the new Exploratory Park. Steps away from the pavilion, new retailers will also be opening soon, including Karma Bread, Cricklewood Coffee and a pizza restaurant.

The Grand LA launches luxury residential tower "The Grand by Gehry" in the heart of downtown LA

Related is pleased to announce that the new 45-story residential tower at The Grand LA will be called “The Grand by Gehry.” The tower, designed by legendary architect Frank Gehry, will consist of 436 luxury residential apartments including 113 ultra-premium residences on the tower’s uppermost floors. Homes will range in size, including studios, one-, two- and three-bedrooms and will feature a penthouse collection.

The 43-story building will introduce 300 luxury apartments—with 20 percent designated as affordable—and will break barriers as Chicago's first high-rise project with an African-American Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) co-leading construction.

Converted into affordable housing for senior citizens in the early 1980’s, the building was acquired by Related Affordable in partnership with St. Mary Development Corporation in 2020. This fall, members of non-profit Blacks in Green planted 36 trees in Chicago, which had been donated by Related Midwest to help beautify the future Emmett Till House Museum (opening in 2024). Members of BiG will maintain the trees and lead a horticultural training program as part of the Sustainable Square Mile program, which addresses climate change in the local community.
